Tap Water or Bottled Water?...There is a BETTER choice.

Debates rage as to whether bottled water is better/safer than tap water, the same as tap water or worse than tap water. We certainly know that bottled water is much worse for the environment. But even if bottled water is better than tap water the fact remains that most every bottled water is acidic and oxidizing which has a negative effect on one’s health.

Water is the key to life but all water is NOT created equal. Although tap water is not as acidic it has many of its own issues (see information below). Tap water is more neutral because municipalities put LYE in it not to protect you from acidic water, but to prevent their water mains from rusting. However once you pass it through a filter it turns acidic in nature just like bottled water, and if you don’t filter it you are subjecting yourself to a host of chemicals and toxins.

Kangen water is the only healthy water. To understand why, be sure to watch our product demonstration video (click here to view) which will have you understanding the difference between bottled waters, tap and Kangen water. You will never look at water the same way again.

Why Bottled Water is Bad for You and Bad for the Environment

Bottled Water is Wasteful

The environmental cost of massive consumption of bottled water has led some U.S. and Canadian local governments to consider banning its sale. While this seems an extreme response, the scientific concerns are well-founded, and the facts may surprise you.

  • Bottles used to package water take over 1,000 years to bio-degrade and if incinerated, they produce toxic fumes. It is estimated that over 80% of all single-use water bottles used in the U.S. simply become “litter.”Source:ValleyWater.org
  • Recycling is only feasible in limited circumstances because only PET bottles can be recycled. All other bottles are discarded. Only 1 out of 5 bottles are sent to the recycle bin.Source:SunTimes
  • U.S. landfills are overflowing with 2 million TONS of discarded water bottles alone.Source:idswater.org
  • It takes over 1.5 million barrels of oil to meet the demand of U.S. water bottle manufacturing. This amount of oil far exceeds the amount needed to power 100,000 manufactures for a year, which does not include fossil fuel and emissions costs of green house gases needed to transport the final product to market.Source:SunTimes
  • It is estimated that actually 3 liters of water is used to package 1 liter of bottled water.Source:ValleyWater.org
An Example

“In summary, the manufacture and transport of that one kilogram bottle of Fiji [brand] water consumed…”

  • 26.88 kilograms of water (7.1 gallons)
  • .849 Kilograms of fossil fuel (one litre or .26 gal) and
  • Emitted 562 grams of Greenhouse Gases (1.2 pounds).

Bottled Water and Climate Change

Dr. Michael Warhurst, Friends of the Earth’s senior waste campaigner, said:

“It is another product we do not need. Bottled water companies are wasting resources and exacerbating climate change. Transport is the fastest growing source of greenhouse gas emissions, and transporting water adds to that. We could help reduce these damaging effects if we all simply drank water straight from the tap.”

Bottled Water and Manufacturing Cost

“In the United States, bottled water costs between $0.25 and $2 per bottle while tap water costs less than a penny. According to Bottledwaterblues.com, about 90% of manufacturer’s costs is from making the bottle, label, and cap.”

Bottled Water and Long-Term Environmental Issues

Key environmental issues with bottled water, [says environmentalist David Suzuki] are waste and uncertainty over the long-term health effects created by plastic.

Tap Water...Just as Bad or Worse than Bottled Water

There are many reasons tap water is not a good choice for drinking. There is a long list of known toxins in tap water, many of which are “supposedly” at safe levels according to the EPA, but who would want ANY amount of level of a known carcinogen in their water, even if it was a small amount? This list of chemicals in tap water includes chlorine, fluoride, heavy metals, radioactivity, herbicides, pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers, a long list of over the counter and pharmaceutical drugs, preservatives, stimulants, hormones, detergents, solvents, paints, industrial waste products, sewage, disinfectants and much much more. Let’s start with Chlorine and Fluoride

Cancer and other diseases have skyrocketed while billions are being poured into research and a record amount of people are consuming drugs and pharmaceuticals? DRUGS ARE NOT THE ANSWER!

Chlorine was supposed to make our water safer and free of bugs. It is true that it does kill much of the bacteria , but it kills us too! Chlorine gas is so toxic that it was used in the war to burn up the lungs of our enemy. Chlorine also combines with many organic compounds to create chemicals such as PCB’s, chloroform, chloramines, DDT and Dioxin . Another side note is that many of these chlorinated compounds like DDT can mimic certain hormones in your body (DDT mimics estrogen) and this can create a tremendous hormonal imbalance. DDT is called a pseudo-estrogen and it worsens PMS and menopause.

Chlorine also mimics Iodine (because it is in the same family as Iodine on the periodic table) and creates thyroid problems. Chlorine also has been shown to combine with fat and cholesterol to produce arterial plaques and hardening of the arteries. Finally Chlorine is one of the most potent free radicals and free radicals have been theorized as the root cause of ALL diseases. Now the chlorine and the chlorinated compounds found in tap water alone should be reason enough to never drink it or bathe in it again.
